Lucky in LoveWelcome Hoppers to Carrie  Ann’s Luck in Love Blog Hop.   Join almost 300 bloggers celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and the ephemeral concept of luck.

As usual, I’m going to do this blog hop my own way.  I don’t really believe in luck–not completely. Luck seems to show up most often when people are working hard to achieve a goal, making new friends, doing new things–finding ways implicit and explicit–to trip over that door that just had not yet been in their vision.  Luck often seems to be an unseen opportunity or barrier revealed when someone marches forward with steel determination, kindness in their heart, a sense of purpose and a little Karma thrown in for good measure.

Yes, things like lotteries work on luck, but you have to be a ticket to have access to it. So even that requires an action first, before the luck comes.   Still not convinced?  Let’s see if I can prove it with the prize I’m giving away.

I have a fabulous group of writer buddies. We help each other grow as writers.  All have published or about to publish wonderful books and stories. Like me, on the newer end, most of us having our first books within the last year.  One person who comments on the question “How do you make your own luck,” chosen by random.org will win one book written by one of these authors, that I will buy.  Which author will be chosen by random.org.  Here’s the amazing group in alphabetical order by last name:

Tonya Cannariato

Sarah Cass

Fiona Druce

Ellie Heller

Jennifer James

Milly Taiden

Mary Terrani

Luck, through random number generation will decide which new author you get to read. But they are all out there working hard to write great stories and spreading the word about them. I’m just a door that opened to help them out and you get a free book.  Pretty good deal–Good Luck.

ENJOY.

If you are in the market for a new shifter story, consider my recent release Fires of Justice from Ellora’s Cave.

Fires of Justice Book Blurb

Always read the fine print when swearing an eternal oath to gods and guardians…

Beholden by the sacred vows of her coven, fire witch Calista Reid agrees to temporarily mate with shifter Cullen McMahan to fulfill a mission assigned by the guardians. When tall, dark and damaged arrives on her doorstep, generating enough heat to scorch a fire witch, Calista finds herself drawn to his battle-hardened body and broken soul. His pain speaks to her own deep-rooted isolation and the intensity of his hunger slakes her passion like no other.

Cullen, scarred by a past that left him an indentured soldier to the guardians, resents yet another hump-on-command assignment…until he encounters the compassionate, fearless, incendiary redhead who detonates his body and reawakens the emotions sacrifice and loss had suppressed. But Cullen harbors a terrible secret—one that reaches back into Calista’s troubled childhood and threatens the foundation of their growing bond.

  8. I’m with you on not believing in luck. I have never had much luck without going out and getting it with hard work. I hope you can prove me wrong just a little by helping me win something on this hop :-) )

    p.winmill@hotmail.com

    • I hope you do. You’re putting yourself out there to do so, that’s a part of it. Do so agree, whenever I have some luck, its because I’ve toiling in the field, looking to my right, and something shows up from the left.

  9. Anne Lange says:

I agree – you do have to make your own luck. It’s an action/reaction thing. If you don’t try, you CAN’T get lucky. I keep telling my kids that, nobody’s going to come knocking on our front door and hand over their dream – that, frankly would be a miracle, not luck. :)

I am well acquainted with a couple of the ladies on your list, and I agree – great group of authors you have here! Good luck ladies!

    • I’ve been trying to get that through to my daughter as well. Its a hard lesson to teach, when many societal messages seem to focus on easy solutions. Thanks for dropping by.

I don’t know that luck has any bearing on having a successful relationship. It’s a whole lot of work. I married my high school sweetheart right out of high school. We have been married for 17 years.

I believe people can make their own luck but also believe that luck can come to people at times when it wasn’t… I don’t know “earned” for lack of a better word. So I guess I believe in both. People make their own luck most of the time, thus also making their own bad luck but also at times luck finds you without you looking for it (if all that makes sense. It worked in my head before I typed it!)

Thank you for the chance to enter :D Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone :)

    • No worries, I completely understood it all. I do agree–there is something intangible that does happen and the concept of luck (bad and good) works well enough to describe it. But in the end, I couldn’t get myself out of bed every morning if I didn’t believe that my efforts wouldn’t pay off even if I don’t always know what that pay-off would look like when I get started. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy.

What a great giveaway hop! I have yet to be lucky in love but I’m working on it. My favorite love book is “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie Fraser is amazing and beautiful. I enjoy St. Patty’s Day and this year I’m spending it with my best friend. We’re going to two Irish Pubs and also some dance clubs. I am also wearing green and am not a fan of getting pinched. I’m not Irish either, but many people think I am because my hair is red, my eyes green and my name is Meghan, but I’m not at all. I won’t be telling anybody that, however… let them believe I’m Irish.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

    • I haven’t been lucky in love yet either but I remain hopeful and think it comes to us all when we are really ready for it. Thanks for dropping by. Hope you enjoyed the hop.
