My turn, Lucky Seven. My wonderful Triberr mate Sandra de Helen tagged me for Lucky Seven. She blogs at Red Crested Chatter. Take a gander over and read her writing, worth the trip!
So what’ s lucky seven you ask? A chance to show off your writing, with a twist. You have to post it as is at the time of the tagging, warts and all. Here’s how it works.
- Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript
- Go to line 7
- Post on your blog the next 7 lines or sentences – as they are!!
- Tag 7 other people to do the same
The seven sentences are from page 7 of my novella in progress, Fires of Justice.
Here’s a summary of the action thus far: A shifter’s been watching over fire witch Calista Reid, clandestinely taking up residence in her backyard at the same time an ominous dream has usurped her sleep. Trying to unravel the dual but related mysteries, Calista talks with her Aunt Esmy, a powerful, ambitious witch who reluctantly raised her after her parents were killed. In the conversation, Esmy reveals a secret she’s kept hidden and Calista, mortified, tells her to leave. The snippet below follows immediately, with Calista’s observations.
The strain of years and secrets etched lines across her forehead and sealed sadness in her eyes. She carries more than I know. Her aunt may be demanding and distant and resented the child whose needs slowed her rise up the coven hierarchy, but she had given Calista what affection she could.
“I’ll call you in a few days after I’ve had time to process all this and you can fill me in on the rest. I’m sure there’s a lot more.”
“I’ll go as you request niece. After I tell you two things you must know if Argenta’s…..(seventh line ends here).

I love this story. That is all…
Thanks. I do too and I’m spending so much time tweaking it to a higher level, one less pronoun at a time.
Thanks for the tag – I’ll have to dig up that section of the manuscript!
Yours sounds fascinating. What a tease this process is!
I look forward to reading it. Have fun with it Kasia.
Thanks for the tag!! Excerpt up!
Great and your welcome. I will wonder over and take a look.
Interesting idea for a blog! I different teaser than the beginning of the novel. I hope my material will be interesting at that section of the book! Thanks for nominating me.
Intriguing, Sabrina! and thanks for tagging Tam Linsey and Jennifer Jakes, I’m excited to read both of them. *Waves* Hi Tam! Hi Jennifer!
Hello! *waves back*
Thanks Sandra.
Your welcome. I passed it on from Sandra. I am looking forward to reading a part of your book. I love the idea.
I’m not ignoring, you, I promise…
I think I’ll get to this *this* week, now…
(And I like your 7 lines, too!)
No worries. It’s for you only if you want. I thought it would be of service with the book coming out. Believe me I understand only all too well the the challenges of managing multiple lives. Glad you liked the lines.
